What's this?

We started this social network in 2008 and hope to continue to build out a community of users engaged in transforming public media.

Please use it to introduce yourself to one another, start groups and conversations, and let us know about your latest innovative projects. We'll weigh in with occasional materials and questions related to the conference, but this is really a tool for and by all of you.

BB '09 will be at USC Annenberg from June 3-6—register today. Couldn't make it out to DC in '08? Check out our event proceedings and downloads.

"Public Media's Moment"

Some amazing discussions have taken place over the past few days on public media, participation, engagement and new directions. At Free Press we want to make these ideas a reality by ensuring we have a public media system in this country that is more robust, well supported, diverse, expanded, politically insulated, harnesses leadership, and the list goes on...

Being mindful of the public interest in "socially responsible" commerical and non-commercial "public service" media...

Traveller from Australia - Flu query

I'm coming to BB 2009 from Sydney Australia - and very much looking forward to it. But the government is talking of asking young people returning to Australia from visits to countries where there are cases of H1N1 Swine Flu to stay out of school for a week after they arrive home. Is there any reason for concern if travelling to Los Angeles?!

Thanks,

Anne

Session suggestion

Looking at the schedule for the conference it seems to me the sessions are fairly academic and it would be good to have more sessions devoted to hands-on applications of audience engagement. What are the steps involved? What are the successful case studies? What are the tips or warnings from people who have been through it?
